How Sky Key Helped Me Save 13% On My Southwest Flight
Several years ago, I was well aware flight prices change all the time, but I had no idea I could personally benefit from prices falling after I booked my ticket. I would book my ticket and not pay any attention to the price afterwards. My thought process was- even if my ticket was selling for less than what I bought it for, who cares? There’s nothing I could do about it. If anything, it would make me feel worse seeing the ticket selling for less than I paid for it.
That was until my good friend Jacob (Co-founder @ Sky Key) called me on a warm summer day in 2023. He told me he just saved $500 on his flight because the price dropped after he booked his ticket and he got the difference back as a credit (that he could use on a future flight). As an economics major who studied prices and supply and demand to the nth degree, my jaw literally hit the floor. I had no idea that you could save money by just paying attention to the price of your flight after you booked it. The thought had never even crossed my mind.
Since then, Jacob and I have built the best solution in the world for saving you money on your booked flights, Sky Key. If you have a flight, upload your ticket and let Sky Key go to work for you. Our technology captures you savings on your booked flights without changing your seats, flight times, etc. Everything about your flight stays the exact same, but you get savings back in the form of:
- Cash (if you book a refundable ticket)
- Future travel credit (if you book a non-refundable ticket)
- Points (for flights you book with points)
Since launch, we have saved our customers more money/points on their booked flights than we ever could have imagined.
My Personal Experience With Sky Key
I recently flew to a wedding in El Paso, Texas and naturally chose Southwest for this trip. I booked my flight on January 21, 2025. I put my ticket on Sky Key so I could save money if the price dropped before the departure date. Without me having to lift a finger, Sky Key got me money back on three separate occasions:
- January 21 (yes, the same day I booked my ticket): Sky Key saw my exact same flight was selling for $24 less and automatically got me that money back
- January 22 (the day after I booked my ticket): Sky Key saved me $17
- February 25: Sky Key saved me $10.04
By taking less than two minutes to upload my ticket to Sky Key, I was able to save $51.04, or about 13%, on my flight! I booked a non-refundable ticket, so the $51.04 is a credit that I can use to offset the cost of a future flight I take on Southwest.
